Annotation In this article the nature of definition of territorial community as a subject of civil law as well as several controversial issues of their civil legal status are determined. In particular, the article states that territorial community, which can be the actor of civil legal relations, also stands for the unity of people, combined by the permanent place of living within the borders of towns, that are individual administrative territorial units or voluntary organization of inhabitants of several towns with the same administrative center. The fact that territorial communities are not only subjects of public law but subjects of civil law as well is emphasized in the article. Moreover, as collective subjects, the territorial communities have all features of legal entities as subjects of civil law as well as some peculiarities distinct from legal entities.
