Annotation The article is an attempt to review the nature of the branch of public international law — international security law. A changing geopolitical situation in the world demands a new approach to assessment of the universal system of collective security as well as regional. Many legal institutions in this area of law ceased to exist, and some almost do not carry out their functions. International security law was combined with international criminal law and a number of other branches. Sources and rules applied to both branches are the evidence thereof. The latter complicates codification of the international security law.
Keywords international security law, international law, armed conflicts.
